The Gift of Giving

Give back this holiday season through one of these Fort Worth charities

The Holidays are a time for cheer, family fun, and celebration. For many, the season is also a time for reflection on their good fortune and, consequentially finding ways to give back to the community and those in need. Fort Worth harbors many charities that operate year-round but make special use of the giving spirit of the community during the holidays to support the needy and ensure the whole of Tarrant county enjoys a magical time. Below are four local non-profits that make gift-giving easy to maneuver and charity work fun!

The Greatest Gift Catalog Ever
The National Leadership Foundation produces a yearly holiday catalog facilitating over 21 million dollars towards local Tarrant County charities. The catalog matches the majority of donations for each organization to use toward its mission. Eliminating the guesswork from charitable donations, Fort Worthians need only keyword search online to find a charity and then click on their preferred donation amount for easy, personalized gift giving to local community members in need. Visit tggce.org to find a charity that's close to your heart.

Catholic Charities Fort Worth
CCFW provides services to the working poor, refugees, immigrants, and other marginalized people, taking special care to treat every beneficiary with the dignity the charity believes people inherently deserve. With a vast outreach, volunteers serve tens of thousands of people in 28 county dioceses each year. In December, the organization holds several events to increase awareness including 'Know Poverty,' a behind-the-scenes, hour-long meeting detailing the mission and opportunities provided by the charity. Fort Worth Margarita Ball
For holiday-themed, gift-giving fun, check out Margarita Ball, sponsored by Children's Charities of Fort Worth, this holiday season on Dec. 3. All ticket sales and donations supply holiday toys and gifts to children in need. Proceeds also furnish children with school uniforms and provide aid for the CCFW year-round programs. Humane Society of North Texas
This charity dedicates itself to animal rights advocacy and health, providing for abandoned and abused animals with nowhere else to turn. Last year, Humane Society advocates saved 2,467 animals through adoption, completed or funded 2,433 Spay & Neuter surgeries, rescued 167 animals from cruelty, and treated 74 dogs for heartworms. The community can support the Humane Society of North Texas by donating to hsnt.org.
