To help tell the story of this year’s Santa’s Southern Lights, we sat down with Karisa Ruth, director of retail sales at Sara’s Farm Adventure. With a front-row view of both the farm’s growth and its festive traditions, Karisa shared how the event has become a magical holiday experience for families across the community.
Can you tell us a little about Sara’s Farm Adventure and how it all began?
Sara’s Farm Adventure (SFA) began as an idea from the owners of Titan Farms. They wanted to diversify and create a destination where families could learn about agriculture while making lifelong memories.
What makes Sara’s Farm Adventure unique compared to other attractions in the area?
SFA stands out with more than 20 games and attractions designed for all ages. Families can enjoy jumping pillows, apple cannons, paintball, pig races, slides, swings and even a petting zoo. Adults aren’t left out. Beer and wine is available as well as a concession stand serving peach pulled pork, hamburgers, chicken fingers and pizza make it a full experience. Seasonal events also set SFA apart, including the beloved “Santa’s Southern Lights” trail at Christmas where themed holiday scenes are synchronized to music.
Santa’s Southern Lights has become a tradition. What inspired you to start it?
The mission of Sara’s Farm Adventure has always been to create educational fun that leaves families with memories to treasure. Santa’s Southern Lights was born out of that vision.
What can visitors expect when they attend this year’s Santa’s Southern Lights, and when is it open?
Guests first enter Santa’s Village, a photo-op area glowing with lights, live trees and Santa himself. The park buildings sparkle with decorations while live music sets the mood on weekends. Visitors can sip hot cocoa, roast marshmallows over firepits and take in the magic of the synchronized light trail. The event runs November 20 through January 3. Adult Nights are held Thursdays from 5–10 p.m. while regular hours are Friday–Sunday from 1–10 p.m.
What role does Santa play, and what other special activities are available?
Santa makes regular appearances throughout the season. Families can also enjoy the following themed events.
