The Rancher, founded by Luther and Juanita White, was a Gainesville retail icon for forty years. It left a lasting mark on Nancy White Bennett and her daughter, Michelle McElroy. Nancy worked during and after college, and Michelle grew up in the store working with her grandmother for years. Market trips were a family affair. Nancy’s mother, Juanita White, managed the store until its closing in 2005.
When Michelle’s third child began pre-school, Michelle pursued her career in interior design. Later, Nancy came on to help Michelle. Michelle missed retail and dreamed of a store with everything for the home under one roof. Michelle, her husband Miles, and Nancy decided to go all in to pursue this new business model. A couple of years later, The Home Place was born.
The Home Place, founded by Michelle and Miles McElroy and Nancy White Bennett (Michelle’s mother) opened January 2020, in Jonesville. The McElroy children are also involved: Marci (social media manager), Miranda and Mason. The business is blessed with an amazing team of associates. The Home Place is an all-encompassing home interiors store, offering fully customizable products and consultation services to homeowners and trade professionals. The owners and staff are dedicated to providing expert advice and quality products to create a truly one-of-a-kind design. Traditionally, homeowners had to visit multiple sources to purchase home interiors merchandise. Now The Home Place “Your Home, Your Style” concept has revolutionized the entire home décor and furnishings process.
