Western fashion is influencing jewelry collections this fall. Today's interpretation of this rustic style has become more delicate than traditional cowboy accessories. Rather than oversized silver belt buckles and chunky turquoise pieces, shoppers are gravitating toward Western-inspired designs hewn from fine materials. Think natural turquoise hand-set in 14-karat gold, Navajo pearls paired with polished yellow gold, and subtle ranch-inspired details woven into engagement rings and bracelets.
“Western is all the rage right now,” explains Nikole with a smile. "We have a lot of turquoise pieces and Navajo pearls. It's a more elevated version of the Western trend."
Layering various metal tones and shapes of jewelry to reflect a curated look is the latest way to style jewelry. Nikole says this is an artform that she likens to personal storytelling. Shoppers can navigate the trend by layering necklaces and stacking rings.
“This is not about using oversized statement pieces. You would use small individual pieces to create an eclectic, true-to-you look.”
One of the most prevalent jewelry trends this fall is redesigning antique or inherited jewelry to include modern elements. Jewelers can procure the stone from a loved one’s engagement ring and fashion it in modern design. It’s a beautiful way for shoppers to tether themselves to heirloom pieces while maintaining their own sense of style.
“We probably redesign heirloom jewelry more than anything else,” remarks Nikole.
If you have a limited budget, she advises investing in a high-quality piece of jewelry one piece at a time. A stunning capsule foundation would be a tennis bracelet, diamond studs, huggie hoops, tennis necklace, and gold bangles.
While trends can provide inspiration, Cobb encourages shoppers to resist making impulse purchases based solely on what's popular at the moment.
"Don't buy something just because it's what's being put in your face right now. I would avoid just following too much of a trend," she says. "If you're investing in forever pieces, make sure it's something you're going to like in ten years."
