For Guy Weinhold, wine mirrors his professional life as a certified financial planner (CFP®) and his passion as a sommelier. Wine, like finance, is influenced by a mix of factors that take time to understand and appreciate.
What initially sparked your interest in wine?
With my last name being "Weinhold" I guess it was natural. I'm of German descent, Wine in German is Wein. So you could translate my last name to mean "Keeper of Wine".
What's your most memorable experiences as a sommelier.
I have been fortunate to be able to travel over the years and been able to experience a wide variety of wines. I wanted to learn more about wine and thought I should get some formal training that would enhance my appreciation and understanding.
How do you combine your passion for wine into your personal and professional life?
Wine is a living, breathing thing, ever changing and evolving. It takes time to produce great wines. There's a lot of factors, some of which are within our control and others, like mother nature, that aren't. It's an Art & Science, much like what I do as a CFP® professional at Edward Jones.
