The Legacy of Mt Juliet Family Vision

Dr. Kevin Davis carries on his family’s compassionate vision care.

MJFV is truly a family business. Give us a little insight into what it's been like working so closely with both your father and uncle. It has been a really cool experience since I joined in 2016. Not many can say they have a successful family business and successful transition down the family line to keep the business moving forward into the future. They are truly great men who care about every individual more than themselves. They care deeply about every patient and everyone is treated like family. I have adopted the same mentality of trying to maintain a family atmosphere - take care of the individual in front of you as best as you can, and the business will follow. They maintain a lot of humility, but they have positively impacted so many lives in the area - I hope to do the same. MJ is home for all of us, and we care deeply about the community.

Dr Pete retired very recently; how have things changed both in the office and specifically for you because of this? My Father (Dr. Mike) and Uncle (Dr. Pete) still fill in at times and have a few select days when they are in the office. The practice is continuing to grow. We are working on a transition with adding a new Doctor in the near future - looking to find the right fit for the practice to help MJFV continue on into the future and meet the needs of the community. My Father and Uncle have such a positive legacy that is important to carry on.

Aside from your dad and uncle, what/who also inspired you to become an eye doctor? They definitely both had a large influence on who and where I am today. The work-life balance that they were able to maintain while growing up all while having a tremendous impact on the lives of so many people and the community is what really led me down this path. Vision is such an important sense that we sometimes take for granted. Maintaining good eye health and a properly functioning visual system is so important. We see and correlate many conditions just by looking at the eyes and visual pathway such as autoimmune issues, neurological conditions, and vascular conditions such as diabetes and hypertension, among many others. It is also important for us to ensure the Visual system is functioning appropriately at an early age - especially with all the technology we have in front of us in school, work, etc from such a young age - we want to be able to track and address any issues early on.

I understand your wife is a nurse and you share two beautiful children! What does your family like to do for fun? Yes, my wife is a Nurse Manager on a Cardiac Floor at Centennial Hospital. We have 2 wild yet amazing kids, Eli (5) and Emma (20 months). We like to travel when we can and share more experiences with our kids as they get older, hanging out with friends and when we are not working, we honestly just love hanging out at home most of the time - we are blessed with great families.
