The Bread Beckers

With a degree in food science and an interest in biochemistry and physiology, Sue Becker, co-founder of The Bread Beckers, Inc., has strived to provide the most nutritious foods for her family. In 1991, after reading an article published in a medical journal, she learned that whole grains are one of the most nutrient-dense foods given to us - but only when the flour is freshly-milled. When milled fresh, this flour contains all the life-giving nutrients our bodies need and crave.

This same article also connected the decline of American health to the sifting away of the bran and germ in commercially milled flour. This information persuaded Sue to immediately purchase a grain mill. She began to make all the bread for her family, such as pancakes, rolls, and muffins. The health benefits they experienced were immediate and significant. Without any additional dietary changes, Sue’s chronic constipation was relieved. Her children no longer had snotty noses or ear infections, warts were disappearing, and they weren’t catching every bug that came around.

Additionally, Sue’s energy was greatly boosted. She no longer needed that nap in the middle of the day. Her sugar cravings had decreased! Her frequent headaches were gone! Sue’s dependency on antihistamines also disappeared. She has not taken one antihistamine in over 30 years!

Sue also discovered that this bread is delicious. It was never a challenge to get her family to eat it like other fad diets. She grew so excited that she began to share her “new discovery” with friends and began baking bread for them. Word spread quickly, as others also experienced improved health. Testimonies began pouring in, exclaiming, “It’s the bread! It’s got to be the bread!" There were others now experiencing these same and even more health improvements. Some of these changes included cholesterol dropping 85–100 points, stabilized blood sugar, anemia disappearing, IBS completely resolved, and warts vanishing. Yes…warts.

Soon after, Sue and her husband, Brad, had their sixth child, and the demand for baking bread for others was outpacing her ability to keep up with life. This is when she decided that instead of making bread for the world, she was going to teach the world how to make bread for themselves, and thus, Bread Beckers was born.

That was over 30 years ago, and Sue’s excitement with freshly milled grain continues to dramatically grow. Today, she is more excited about it than ever. Throughout all the healthy eating habits and fad diets that come and go, this one has remained.
