Motherhood can be rewarding, but it can also feel isolating. That's why The Mom Walk Co. Celina is helping local moms build friendships, find support, and create meaningful connections.
Part of the global Mom Walk Collective, which launched in California more than three years ago and now serves more than 350 cities worldwide, The Mom Walk Co. exists to help moms feel less alone. Its simple yet powerful belief is that "moms need moms."
Led by Celina resident Erin Baird, the group hosts free mom walks at least twice each month. Moms in every stage of motherhood are welcome, from expectant and postpartum moms to those with school-aged children and even empty nesters. Walks typically begin with a fun icebreaker before participants enjoy an easy 30- to 45-minute walk together. Children are welcome to join, and many walks conclude at a nearby playground where little ones can play while moms continue building friendships.
In addition to walks, the group hosts monthly moms-only events at local restaurants and businesses. Recent gatherings have included fitness classes, playdates, mom's nights out, and even a floral arrangement workshop in downtown Celina.
For Baird, community is about more than friendship. It is also about supporting maternal mental health.
"Creating opportunities for moms to connect with other moms can be life-altering," she says. "We want every mom to feel seen, welcomed, and supported."
The group regularly gathers at popular community spots such as Old Celina Park and partners with local businesses that help sponsor events through complimentary services, products, classes, coffee, and meals. This year alone, more than 20 local businesses have supported the group's mission.
As a stay-at-home mom of two young children, Baird says watching new friendships form has been one of the greatest blessings of leading the group.
