When he founded his company Bowersox Air Conditioning & Heating in August 2019, owner/operator Bruce Bowersox had a vision of taking on the competition by focusing on being a local company.
“I’ve worked in air conditioning and heating since I graduated high school,” says Bruce, who attended Venice High School and later completed a four-year vocational degree at Sarasota County Technical Institute. “When you are in this business, you quickly learn that a larger company isn’t going to treat you with the attention and care that a small, local operation can. When you call our number, I answer the phone. We work 24/7 to take care of all your air conditioning and heating needs, and keep everything running efficiently. You will always be seeing the same, local technicians that I have hired and trained myself.”
Learning from others during his apprenticeship, Bruce always had a dream of opening his own business, of setting his own high standard, and making a brand name of his work ethic and values. Over the years, he has kept his eye out for local talent, encouraging people he went to Venice High with to pursue their degrees as he did. Two of his employees have graduated from Suncoast Technical College, and three more are in the third year of their apprenticeships. It’s no surprise that Bruce went to high school with almost all of them.
“I love being able to hire these guys, since I know how hard they work and how well they represent my company,” Bruce says at his new Venice office. “But no matter how big we might grow, I will always be in the field with my team, always in the trenches.”
Husband to Courtney and father to nine-month-old daughter Braylee, Bruce wants his customers to know that they can depend on Bowersox Air Conditioning & Heating.
“When there’s an issue with AC here in Florida, that’s an emergency situation,” Bruce says. “In the summer, the indoor temperature can reach 95 degrees in an hour. When you call Bowersox, we respond immediately. We take your emergency situation as seriously as you do and we don’t leave until your temperature is right and we see a big smile on your face.”
Over the years, Bruce has learned that a well-maintained system is the most energy efficient. He recommends regular system checkups to all his clients. “The best way to avoid an air conditioning emergency is to have a company you trust to keep a close eye on your system,” Bruce says. “Now that I am leading my own company, I have the ability to provide my customers with the absolute best work possible at a lower price.
