Visit Ohio Valley Pizza Company For The Original 1945 Square Cut Pizza

In 2017, Dave and Amy Byers dreamt up the idea of bringing the original 1945 square cut pizza to Medina. The thought first originated from Dave, who grew up enjoying square cut pizza with his family at DiCarlo’s Original Pizza in Ohio River. After telling their friends and members of the community, the idea took off – people were over the moon about the idea!

When Dave and Amy began researching their idea, they ran into many roadblocks. After two years of stalled attempts, they decided to reach out to the source of their idea, Mike CiCarlo, owner of DiCarlo’s Original Pizza and son of Primo DiCarlo, the creator of the original 1945 square cut pizza. After their first meeting, Mike & Gretchen came down to Medina to see the new spot. They loved it. And so Ohio Valley Pizza Company was born.

Since opening, Ohio Valley Pizza Company has taken Medina by storm, being one of the most raved about pizza joints in Northeast Ohio. Their signature square cut pizza starts as either a regular (with cheese and pepperoni) or as garlic cheesy bread (white pizza), and all of your favorite toppings can be added from there. They even offer a gluten-free cauliflower crust, as well as vegan sausage and cheese.

Aside from being square, one thing that makes this pizza unique is that the cheese sprinkled on after it's baked so that it is cold. This is how Primo DiCarlo intended his original 1945 square-cut pizza to be enjoyed. Don't worry, if you want your cheese melted on top you can order your pizza 'molten!'
