Summer Book Club

Three can’t-miss titles to add to your summer reading list

Summer is here! This is a great time to catch up on your book goal or start a new reading habit to carry you through the rest of 2021. Goodreads is a great app to help you make a plan and track titles. Plus, you can connect with friends and see what’s on their book list. Speaking of apps, Libby allows you to connect your Mt. Juliet Library Card and download ebooks and audiobooks for free!

Studies show that reading has a wide variety of benefits. Non-fiction improves your general knowledge while fiction can make you more empathetic. There are health benefits too! Adults who read find it’s a great way to relax and destress. Reading before bed can also improve sleep. Mental stimulation is key in slowing the progress of dementia and it increases your focus and concentration.

These summer book selections offer something for everyone. Atomic Habits will be a fantastic helper as you get ready for back to school. Even kids can use these principles. Boys in the Boat is a real-life story that will get you hyped for the upcoming Summer Olympics. If you need a beach read, Where the Crawdads Sing is just the ticket!
