Advice: If you’re considering decorating or redecorating your home, my advice is to take your time and hire professionals whenever possible. Rushed selections and shoddy workmanship will only end up costing more money in the end.

Although the past year had its challenges, Marie Flanigan, owner of Marie Flanigan Interiors, celebrated two major milestones. She debuted her lighting line with Visual Comfort and it soon became the brand's top-selling new release. Flanigan also added best-selling author to her long list of accolades, as her book The Beauty of Home was a #1 best seller on Amazon the day it was released, and it is now in its fourth reprint.

Becoming one of the country's most sought after interior designers wasn't always Flanigan's plan. She is trained as an architect, but after working in the field for several years, she soon realized that she had a passion for interiors. She took the leap, began to focus solely on interior design, and over the past decade has amassed an impressive index of clientele as well as a stunning portfolio. Elle Décor, Architectural Digest, Southern Living, Domino, and House Beautiful are just a few of the publications that regularly feature Flanigan's designs.

Flanigan is known for her simple and classic style. Her popular blog and Instagram have gained quite a following because of her richly layered aesthetic. Texture and color play a big role in Flanigan's interiors, and she credits a lot of her design choices to her clients. Before each project, Flanigan and her team spend time getting to know their clients, so they can have a better understanding their goals and design objectives. "My goal as a designer is to uncover what the beauty of home is to each person and help them bring that to life."
