It’s the heat of the summer and you’re searching for the perfect weekend plans—a place set against the beauty of Colorado’s wild where you can also savor some epic live music under the sparkling sun.
We got you covered.
From August 12-14 (Friday-Sunday), Planet Bluegrass will be hosting their 32nd annual Rocky Mountain Folks Festival on their private ranch in Lyons, Colorado. With the St. Vrain river gushing nearby and the lush green landscape flanking the venue, there is no sweeter place to spend a summer weekend.
Designed to fit 4,500 people over the three-day weekend, the festival will host two stages for live music, as well as a range of food vendors, merchandise booths, and an arts and crafts area for families. Their main stage will host an incredible lineup this year, where guests can lay out their blankets for an all-day hang-sesh while being serenaded by their favorite stadium touring artists from the 1990s and early 2000s. This year, the festival is bringing the Indigo Girls, Ani DiFranco and Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers to bring you back. Sticking to tradition by enlisting folk singer-songwriters from around the country, there will be a lengthy list of artists that will play on the main stage and at the smaller Wildflower Pavilion stage. Newer artists to look for include Yola, Sara Jarosz and John Craigie.
Camping on-site is an option and highly recommended. Festival-goers can also take their bikes to the nearby trailheads or stroll into the charming town of Lyons for a bite to eat. Don’t forget to bring a tube and a bathing suit and enjoy a slow float down the river where the music can be heard from a more refreshing vantage point. This family-friendly festival means kids 12 and under can come for free and enjoy the range of workshops and crafts available.
The intimate festival was crafted with the community in mind, a way to bring friends and strangers together in a setting that celebrates the feel-good and timeless quality of folk music with the best of Colorado’s recreation just footsteps away.
