The Root of It All

Beauty starts at the scalp: Maine’s first trichology salon blends craft with clinical clarity—evaluations, imaging, and head-spa care that redefine healthy hair.

Most of us learn the basics of health and fitness, even a bit of skin care—yet almost no one is taught how to care for their scalp. Trikhos changes that. As Maine’s first trichology-focused salon, it pairs real assessment with simple, sustainable care so people feel seen, supported, and confident. You still get the creative cut and welcoming chair. You also get answers, a plan you can follow, and steady reassurance that results don’t have to be complicated.

Why Trikhos, Why Now

Hair is personal. The stylist chair is where people tell the truth. After a decade behind the chair, founder Jenna Binette kept hearing stories—postpartum shedding, scalp discomfort, thinning that wouldn’t quit—and watched clients struggle to find solutions. “Let’s create this new place where someone can come and they can always feel supported no matter what stage of life they’re in,” she said. Earlier work with homeless youth shaped how she shows up: with compassion and follow-through.

Her curiosity led to formal training in trichology, the science of hair and scalp. “It’s bridging the gap between cosmetology and dermatology,” she said. That bridge is the core of Trikhos.

Three Ways Trikhos Works

Maine’s First Trichology-Focused Hair Salon
A scalp-first philosophy lives inside a modern, creative salon. Cuts are designed to support hair goals—camouflaging where needed, amplifying fullness, protecting hair health—while education is baked into every visit. You leave knowing what helps, what hurts, and why small, consistent changes beat big swings.

Trichology / Hair-Loss Clinic
The clinic begins with a focused evaluation. “At those visits, we would sit down and dig in,” said Binette. You talk through personal and health history; bloodwork is reviewed if indicated. The scalp is examined under a scope and baseline photos are taken to track change. “As soon as we figure out what the cause is—whether it’s that visit or a couple down the line—I’m able to recommend a treatment plan,” she said. Follow-ups are included, so you can adjust and keep momentum.

The Head Spa
The head spa is a private, restorative experience—thorough cleanse, steam, neck and clavicle massage—with protocols for relaxation, scalp conditions, or hair-loss support. “Head spa is really kind of a new luxury service…it’s pretty heavenly,” said Binette. “That video that I posted got three and a half million views and 50,000 comments that were all 100% positive,” she said.

Who It Helps

Trikhos supports anyone—any age, any gender—navigating genetic patterns, postpartum or menopause-related shifts, stress-related shedding, seasonal dryness and flaking, or dermatitis. Early detection matters. “I just recently had someone whose hairline was receding by an inch… we were lucky that we were able to catch it very early,” said Binette. Often, the fix is simpler than people expect.

Winter, Simplified

Maine winters trick people. Dry air frequently triggers excess oil production, not “dry flakes.” The solution is usually straightforward: cleanse properly (often a bit more), skip heavy oils on the scalp, and use light serums with scalp-friendly actives. “It doesn’t have to be a complicated thing,” she said. After years of “don’t wash your hair,” she added, “we need to take care of our scalp.”

Care That Feels Like Support

The evaluation is intimate by design: two chairs, no counter in between, time to tell the story. “I make it a very intimate personal space where someone can feel vulnerable and safe to express what’s going on,” said Binette. Photos and scope images create a clear baseline; follow-ups make progress visible. Clients walk out lighter. “I just feel so reassured,” they tell her—and that’s the point.

Simple plans. Real results. Beauty starts at the scalp—and at Trikhos, you don’t have to figure it out alone.
