When it comes to expressing creativity through music, cuisine, and unforgettable events, Behshid Nazeri of Lumie're House Co. -- better known as DJ Nava -- has a gift for bringing every detail together with style.
From painting and music to floral design, gourmet catering and luxury event planning, Nazeri has built a career around creating beautiful experiences that leave lasting memories.
"My journey began by teaching children art, music, and guitar," Nazeri says. "At the same time, I loved creating fun celebrations for holidays and special occasions."
From Daycare to Dream Events
That passion inspired her, some 13 years ago, to start her own daycare business in Leesburg, Virginia. Built around music, creative play, and memorable celebrations, the daycare reflected her own background as a guitarist, pianist, and recording artist. Today, it continues helping children thrive through creativity.
While organizing Easter, Halloween, Christmas, and birthday celebrations for her students, Nazeri realized she loved designing events as much as teaching. "I really enjoyed working with the children and making their days special," she explains.
Watching their excitement sparked an even bigger vision. "Seeing the joy on their faces inspired me to dream bigger. That passion grew into planning weddings, birthday parties, baby showers, corporate events, and luxury celebrations."
Today, her business also includes custom floral design, catering, and DJ services. "I believe every event should be beautiful, meaningful, and unforgettable."
DJ Nava Takes Center Stage
As DJ Nava, Nazeri has become a sought-after DJ throughout the DMV. Her sets seamlessly blend EDM, house, and Top 40 hits, making her a favorite for weddings, corporate events, and cultural celebrations.
She has performed for venues and corporate events including the Exclusive Automotive Group Bentley Aston Martin of Washington, DC, the DC Magazine Fashion Show Event at EAG, and the Loudoun County Public School graduation events. She has also produced original tracks and custom wedding mixes for couples looking to personalize their celebrations.
As demand grew, Nazeri purchased a picturesque farm along Route 15 in Leesburg, where she hosted her daycare, parties, and larger events. Thanks to word-of-mouth and social media, the business has continued to flourish.
For Nazeri, music is about creating happiness. "I love seeing everyone around me smiling," she says. "We're creating happiness together. I love playing music that gets people dancing and enjoying themselves."
Her high-level DJ career began with children's parties at the daycare before expanding into weddings, corporate events, and large community celebrations.
A Feast for the Senses
Nazeri's creativity doesn't stop with music. "I started as an artist designing flowers and creating music, then expanded into events with delicious food," she says.
A passionate food designer, she started her own catering company, handcrafting menus for her events, with Persian cuisine becoming one of her specialties.
"I started making my own food for the parties at the school," she says. "Eventually that became a highlight of every event."
She and her cousin, Tina Hamidzadeh, also share a love of French cooking. Having attended school in Dubai, they enjoy creating everything from scratch, including a guest favorite -- their homemade bread buns.
Celebrating Community
Among the events Nazeri is most proud to support is the 3rd Annual DMV Community Awards and Fashion Show Gala, which was held on July 18 in Washington, D.C.
Working with organizer Dr. Tauheed S. Burke, Nazeri provided custom catering and floral design for the event, which honors community and industry leaders from Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Prince George's County, and Northern Virginia while celebrating fashion and philanthropy.
At this gala event, Nazeri and Hamidzadeh created an unforgettable event with floral arrangements and catering delicacies, including beef velouté tart, shrimp canapés, shoux à la creme, and chocolate truffle, just to name a few.
Proceeds from the gala benefit Kiyah House and will help provide education and resources for underserved members of the community.
When she's not planning elegant events or introducing her two children (an eight-year-old daughter and an 11-year-old son) to a wide variety of tastes of life, Nazeri continues to explore her love of art and food.
For Nazeri, whether she's designing flowers, preparing Persian specialties, or filling a dance floor, every celebration is another opportunity to create something beautiful -- and unforgettable.
