The beauty of life and love is truly celebrated in this little shop that not only offers great products but also provides for those in need. You will definitely feel love upon entering and it will be hard to leave without a smile.
If you have ever met Maylee Thomas Fuller, you probably realized that the hugs she so generously offers are genuine and her smile and style tend to make you want to learn more about her “hippie” inspired lifestyle. But the main thing you need to know is that she is a genuine American Beauty, inside and out. And if you ever attend one of their band’s concerts you will see her passion for life and love as she connects with her audience both in her words and emotion. You can also join Maylee’s podcast at https://texashomegrownmusic.podbean.com/ to enjoy great music and more!
She and her guitar-slinging husband, Mayor George Fuller, have always been committed to giving back to the community, and do so in a plethora of ways. One of the most impressive means is through a gem of a boutique located inside The Guitar Sanctuary on the north side in McKinney’s Adriatica Village. The Love Life Market was a brainstorm developed to bring exposure to help their non-profit, the Love Life Foundation, whose mission statement is to spread love and hope to the at-risk in the community by partnering with local agencies to provide valuable aid and support.
The “Love Life Family” continues to grow and Maylee and George are especially grateful for the overwhelming response from so many dedicated volunteers, many of who have been serving for decades as they get ready to enter into their 30th year of operation.
Visit www.lovelifefoundation.com to learn how you can help, or as Maylee says, “Learn the real joy in giving”. Maylee’s favorite quote is “love life”— you get out of it what you put into it”. For some it’s time, others it’s talent, and, of course, finances too. She is in strong support of many organizations and hopes that everyone would find somewhere to become involved where they have a passion for a cause.
The latest theme to come out of this loving organization is the McKinney Kind initiative. Anyone that knows Maylee is not surprised at the peace sign design since she’s been throwing it out there her whole life. Maylee beams with pride as she mentions how many of the McKinney Kind peace signs adorn cars, yards, t-shirts, and even some buildings around McKinney. Ironically, it was a positive answer to a rather mean use of a photo of her giving the peace sign that partially inspired this initiative to remind us all, especially in these times of divisiveness, that we just need to be kind to one another.
Maylee adds, “If we would all use the Golden Rule we were taught as children we really can make this world a more loving environment. It’s not a cliche for me, it’s a purposeful practice of daily life”. All proceeds from the McKinney Kind merchandise are going directly to the Community Lifeline Center to support this long-standing organization that does so much for the less fortunate and the food insecure.
The Love Life Market is also a great way to promote the foundation’s outreaches throughout the year, such as FoodStock on September 18th, which helps stock our local food pantries, Bring on the Heat Chili Cook-off on October 10th, which helps support our Fire Department’s Benevolence Fund, Fashion For A Cause on November 12th, and Breakfast with Santa on December 4th, which is a free outreach to help the Angel Tree Drive.
The Love Life Market manager, Glenda Howard, likes to state the shop is “gift ready” and has something for everyone. Whether you buy a piece of clothing, one of the beautiful, artistic pieces of jewelry, or a variety of gift items, they have everything you need from the gift card to the packaging for you to be able to go in and leave ready for the party.
Glenda laughs when she talks about how she became involved with Maylee and the Love Life Foundation. She was looking for the next step in her life when she happened upon a tent set up in a Walgreen’s parking lot. Curiosity drove her to that tent where she met Maylee and had her first taste of what this fantastic organization is all about. Glenda smiles as she says, “Seven years later, Maylee still refers to me as her “Walgreens Girl”!
