The UGLI Foundation, founded by Angela Garcia, has become an influential advocate in our community's stand against bullying. With an extensive background as an on-air broadcaster working for FOX Sports, NBC, the Golf Channel, and a host of her own radio show on Sirius XM, Angela aims to shed light on the gravity of bullying and to promote constructive steps we can take together. The foundation has redefined the meaning of "UGLI" to represent the best in each person: Unique, Gifted, Loved, Individual.
Addressing the complexities of bullying and cyberbullying in schools, the UGLI Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to collaborating with partners to promote anti-bullying measures, adhering to the anti-bullying standards mandated by Texas for educational settings. The foundation's plan includes educational initiatives, the formation of UGLI Clubs in schools, and the development of UGLI Ambassadors, who are empowered to oppose bullying and spread positivity.
"UGLI is a tool we will use to take action now so future generations can live a reality filled with love and encouragement," Angela says. The foundation’s UGLI Clubs, supported by a $2000 grant and a suite of resources, provide a tangible means for educators and parents committed for change to put this vision into action. It’s about lifting each other up, standing against bullying, being kind, celebrating what makes each of us different, and making sure no one feels left out.
Interested schools can reach out to the foundation at info@theuglifoundation.org for guidance on setting up an UGLI Club tailored to their school's unique needs. For our West Austin parents and locals, let's demonstrate to our children the power of community and the impact of kindness. Your commitment can be made official by taking the pledge at TheUGLIFoundation.org/Pledge.
Joining the UGLI Foundation on social media at @TheUGLIFoundation connects you to a broader collective of individuals dedicated to ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for all children. Together, we can end bullying—one act of kindness at a time.
"Imagine a world where we’re all kind to each other."
