This rustic log cabin, nestled in the woods just outside of Jamestown, looks over the expansive Rocky Mountains with views of Longs Peak and the continental divide. This retreat (and its incredible views) is a mere thirty minutes from Boulder and has quick access to hiking trails including the St. Vrain Trail.

The cabin has long been an escape for William, “Bill,” Ohs, a woodworker based out of Denver, and his wife, who purchased the property in 2000.

The Ohs were looking for an easy weekend escape from Denver’s city life, which is what made this cabin the perfect choice. Bill is selling the home now furnished, ready to be someone else’s retreat.

Ohs says that the rustic feeling the home gives off immediately makes visitors feel welcome: “Exposed logs on the inside walls are hallmarks of rustic homes—signaling warmth, comfort, nature, stability, and nostalgia for simpler times-past.”

After purchasing the home in 2000, the Ohs began personalizing, remodeling, and designing the cabin in order to not miss any luxuries from their city home. In the living room, there are several tables and a media console that Ohs hand-crafted specifically for the space that will all be included with the sale of the home.

For Ohs, who started Denver-based kitchen design and manufacturing company William Ohs Inc. in the 1970s, updating the kitchen was a must.

“A wonderful interior change we made was to totally remodel the kitchen: changing it from a "country" decor to a "transitional-modern" appearance,” he explains. “We fashion-blended white oak wood cabinetry with new luxury appliances and granite countertops to form a lovely and harmonious juxtaposition to the log walls. We wanted living here to be easy and convenient as well as comfortable and warm.”

The kitchen was finished with new high-end appliances including a Wolf 4-burner range, SubZero refrigerator, and a Miele dishwasher.

Other updates included replacing the existing decks with high-end, all-weather Trex decking, and building a stand-alone two-car garage. However, the garage, built in the same style as the main house, was created to be used as Ohs' word-working studio. (In fact, there has yet to be a car in the garage!)

For Ohs, selling the property is bittersweet.

“Even as I write this, there's a lump in my throat—and sadness too,” he shares. “It's afternoon, the Indian Peaks are silhouetted against a clear sky. The aspens in front of the garage are shedding their golden leaves. As I look through the sliding glass doors, Stellar Bluejays are eating from the feeders on the deck.

"But like everything in life, there's a time and season. These almost 20 years have been the best in my life—so far.”

The property, which is available through LIV Sotheby’s International Realty, is ready for a new family to create timeless memories enjoying nature, each other’s company, and the rustic cabin.
