I've met so many interesting people writing for WLM and have great memories with each story. While I can't point to anything “crazy” that's happened, I think it must have been amusing watching me try to keep the names and stories of the four Tuck Gin guys straight during our interview at Wafu, while "tasting" lots of Tuck Gin. That whole lunch is kind of a blur!

My first photo shoot for Westport Lifestyle was definitely a memorable one! While arranging a large number of people for a group photo, I noticed that one of the participants was starting to faint. Prior to becoming a photographer I was a family physician, so immediately my brain switched into triage mode. The crowd looked at me incredulously when I announced that I was also a doctor, camera in hand, like a scene out of a soap opera. I was able to get the person comfortable on the ground, ensured they weren't in any immediate danger, and stayed by their side until EMS arrived. Luckily I haven't had to use my medical training at a photo shoot since then, but now I know that those instincts are still there!

My favorite memory from last year would be getting to photograph Michael Bolton! That was such a cool experience and he was just so kind to us. I will never forget it!

My favorite Westport Lifestyle memory has to be the piece I did about Today Show host, Craig Melvin. He was such a joy to interview and truly has a love for the Westport community; I was so honored to write about his New Year's fitness routine and resolutions. One January morning, the month the article had been published, my phone began to ring incessantly. To my surprise, my article and John’s (Videler) photos had been featured on the Today Show! What an exceptional moment for the WLM team!

Meeting Michael Bolton is definitely near the top of the list!
My absolute favorite memory, though, is not celebrity-fueled. It was the moment that the first issue of Westport Lifestyle (WLM) came out. Holding the very first printed copy of WLM in my hands was a feeling I will never forget. To me it symbolized months and months of hard work, sleepless nights, sacrifice, hustle and accomplishment. I truly think of this magazine as my third baby. I’m so grateful to be able to work for myself while doing something I believe in – which is spreading the good news about our amazing community to the people that live here. I still get just as excited seeing every new issue in print each month. The magic is still very much alive!

While at WLM I’ve enjoyed many interviews with Westporters, but especially those with Jane Green, Benjamin Lagasse and Stephen Gemignani, Michael Bolton, Annette Norton, and Melissa Bernstein. Their authenticity, willingness to talk about tough subjects, and enthusiasm inspired both creativity and respect.
I once wrote that I’m fortunate to live in a town that can sell a $300 tank top. But I'm fortunate to live in a town with so many amazing people, including the ones I work with at this magazine.

I really enjoyed meeting so many talented and interesting individuals in our community over the years. One of my favorite memories was meeting Mr. Silverman from Silverman's farm in 2018 - he is a local legend! It was such a special day touring the farm, apple picking, and learning about the history of the farm dating back to the Prohibition era.

I’m a fan of the printed press making working with Westport Lifestyle Magazine a real honor. As the newest member to WLM, I look forward to celebratory team cocktails, lots of opportunities for great photos, and the potential for tattoo sessions with Robin.

One of my first photo shoots for WLM was at The Whelk Restaurant. For years I’d been hearing about Chef/Owner Bill Taibe's Oyster Deviled Eggs. In fact, some friends were talking about them a few days before the shoot.
When I arrived at The Whelk, the first thing Bill put on the table was a platter of the Oyster Deviled Eggs. He said, “When you’re finished photographing them, you can eat them."
I knew this was the start of a fabulous relationship with Westport Lifestyle Magazine.

My favorite memory from working with Marisa at WLM was when I came on in 2018 to help launch the publication. It was great reconnecting to my CT roots and meeting amazing people within the community. We expedited the premiere issue date and had to scramble to get the articles finalized in time for our first deadline. This was pre-covid so lots of late nights out in Westport were involved which is always a plus.
