There’s No Place Like Home!

The word travel has been obsolete for the past couple of years, but I’m here to share that even while traditional traveling modes like flying might have been scary, my husband and I have been very creative. First, we drove to Texas in our Denali where we had a blow-up bed and a flushable toilet in the back, plus enough food to keep us out of public areas. We did this in the middle of shutdown during Covid. We really had a great time—just a reminder that you can always get away.

We also recently returned from seven weeks traveling up the East Coast in our motorhome. What a great time we had! If you’ve never gone RVing and if you’re at all intrigued, I suggest you rent one to try it for a weekend.

My friends would say, “I bet you can’t wait to get back to your bed.” But no, I had it with me every day; we even had our dogs and our cat with us. I know my husband and I never thought we would be those people, but it was great!

We drove from Arizona to Houston, Texas, then to Panama, Florida. It was amazing! Next we headed to Nashville, and that was also amazing! Then we went to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Charleston, and Virginia Beach—it was lovely. We also went to Washington, DC, and many places were still closed, but it’s always interesting to see who and how our country is being run. Our next stop was New Jersey and New York. We had so much fun and walked and walked and walked. Seeing the 911 monument, my heart really stopped a beat for all the families whose lives were changed forever.

Our next destination was Vermont, which was not supposed to be our last, although after we unexpectedly got at least a foot of snow, we decided to start making our way back. Our last stop on our way home was Ohio; we stayed by Lake Genevieve, another great stop!

My husband and I had the time of our life! We met incredible people and made so many new memories along the way. We are already planning our next trip! I hope our trip inspires you to start seeing the world. It’s always nice to come home, but there’s so much world to explore!! Even in the hardest of times, remember there’s so much to celebrate!
