Many of us are looking for proactive ways to manage our healthcare these days. We are embracing healthier lifestyles, becoming more active, and seeking ways to improve our overall well-being. IV hydration therapy is a current trend in the wellness world, and it is now available at Shadow Lake in Papillion.
If you are new to the idea, IV hydration therapy is exactly what it sounds like. Vitamins, supplements, nutrients, and fluids are introduced to the body through intravenous solutions or injections. At Prime IV, it’s all done in a spa-like setting with a warm ambiance and a friendly, welcoming staff. Clients can even relax in a massage chair during the process.
People explore IV hydration for many reasons, including that sluggish feeling so many of us complain about. According to Amanda Ball, the owner and medical director, most people are trying to function with some level of dehydration and vitamin and nutrient deficiencies. That can leave a person feeling sluggish and lead to other symptoms and issues. Vitamin injections or specially tailored IV solutions can make a big difference.
Some people come in with more complex issues. Melissa, for instance, is among those who say IV hydration therapy has improved their quality of life. “I came in with no energy,” she says. “I have fibromyalgia, and I had cancer. I’m a big believer in hydration and wellness, so I had a consultation with Amanda, and she customized my treatment.”
Melissa noticed an immediate increase in energy, and she believes the therapy boosted her immune system. She sees that as a huge plus for keeping up with her seven grandchildren. She also noticed a difference in being able to complete her workouts and do even more.
She strongly believes in IV therapy and her Vitamin D injections, so she chose a monthly membership. She also admits to being obsessed with the flavored wellness water offered at the spa.
Besides general health benefits, IV hydration therapy is recommended for specific situations, such as overcoming jet lag or recovering from a party weekend. Some athletes use it to improve performance, and others find it helps their sleep or eases their headaches. The therapy can also restore electrolytes after sun or heat exposure, which is something to consider with summer activities ahead.
The process begins with a consultation from a licensed medical professional. Once you are medically cleared, the staff develops a personalized therapy plan. The standard treatment takes about an hour, and staff members ensure you are relaxed and comfortable the whole time.
The process is completely sterile and professional, and the best part — it all takes place in a beautiful and relaxed environment.

As the medical director and owner of Prime IV Hydration and Wellness in Shadow Lake, Amanda Ball enjoys helping people look, feel, and perform better. She has a long background in healthcare, starting as a certified nursing assistant and later becoming a nurse practitioner. Most of her career was spent in the emergency room or the intensive care unit, where IV therapy was often a critical need.
Ball even served on a medical SWAT team at the University of Iowa. “We were the rapid response to people who were going downhill quickly,” she said.
After the stress of the pandemic, Ball wanted a change. She moved into primary care and started her own wellness journey. She began to learn about the benefits of fasting, supplements, herbs, and vitamins. Eventually, she felt she no longer fit in the traditional healthcare world.
She began searching for a different way to help people and discovered Prime IV Hydration and Wellness. “It aligned with everything in my goals,” she said. Now, after years of research and hard work, Ball is eager to introduce the Papillion community to the benefits of IV hydration therapy.
