It was a sold-out Super Coffee-drinking crowd at The Kitchen for The Kindness Campaign’s inaugural Kind Cookie Competition. A baker's dozen were in competition. A slate of eight professional bakers including SusieCakes, Dai Due, Bakery Lorraine, Baked by Amy’s, Kurty’s Cookies, Local Foods, Walton’s Fancy & Staple and Sweet Treats Bakery vied for The 2025 Kind Cookie Award. Amateur bakers Kaylee Booth from the newly minted Sugar Lily Baker, Julia Richards, Douglas Still and Molly Price competed for the Sweet Success Award and there was also a People’s Choice award at stake. The judges, Christy Carlson Romano, Dani Dudek, Riki Altman, Natalie Morales and Barbar Liu chose Sweet Lily Bakery as the Sweet Success winner and gave SusieCakes the top prize. The People’s Choice Award went to Kurty’s Cookies. But, everyone was a winner at the sweet event, emceed by Amanda Nelson, that helped support TKC’s work providing mental health tools for children.
