Featuring Guest Artist from Penn State University

Total Dance/Dancical Productions, Inc. proudly announces its 23rd Annual Kwanzaa Celebration  featuring “Girl Why You Dance Like That” Fusion - From Africa to Hip Hop on Saturday, December 28 at the Southwest Arts Center at 8:00pm. The Kwanzaa Village, a marketplace of unique gifts and entertainment begins at 2:00.  The Kwanzaa Ceremony begins at 6:00. Both the village and ceremony are free and open to the public until 9:00.

Kwanzaa is an African-American holiday observed from December 26 through January 1. This year's Total Dance/ Dancical Productions' festivities are on the third day of Kwanzaa celebrating Ujima, which means collective work & responsibility.

Terrie Ajile Axam, Founder and Artistic Director of Dancical Productions, Inc. and Cultural Artist, shares her work, "Fusion-From Africa to Hip Hop" as a part of the Kwanzaa Holiday tradition. "FUSION", now titled “Girl, Why You Dance Like That?” originally a national college tour production reaching over 100 colleges and universities, was conceptualized in 1994 by Speech, lead singer of Arrested Development and written by Ajile.

This year’s production will feature over 30 performers with special guest artist from the group called Mojah Tuba featuring Velvet Brown, world’s leading female solo tubist. Join us for a high energy performance featuring drumming, dance, live music, and spoken word.
