Trends in Wedding Cakes

by Cornwall Bakery

Although some people may opt out of traditional wedding cakes for other individual pastries you can have a wonderful experience and memories to last in remembrance of your wedding day.  With pandemic circumstances still lingering many people are looking at smaller parties and cakes this year. This also allows for some splurge in design or fillings.  Even larger wedding receptions will use extra serving cakes if the guest count is considered larger than 75 people.  All things considered brides and grooms are being given a break regarding their design and choices of creativity.  Here are a few popular trends:

1) Simple and understated design or straight forward.  Smooth edges or  a spatula texture technique.  Naked cakes are very popular  with less buttercream on the edges and expected amount on top of the layer cake remains intact.  This cake tastes well and looks great too!!  The cake is actually sealed in buttercream so the cake stays moist.

2) Fresh flowers always dominate and are absolutely wonder when paired accordingly with the cakes.

3) Metallic accents to show the importance and richness in the design and makes a statement about the bridal couples taste for precious metals.
