Combining utility with a touch of luxury, the 2025 Subaru Outback Touring XT is the most refined version of Subaru’s beloved midsize SUV. It delivers rugged capability with standard all-wheel drive and a suite of advanced tech, including the DriverFocus Distraction Mitigation System. Inside, ventilated Nappa leather seats offer both comfort and elegance.
I recently test drove the Touring XT in Cosmic Blue Pearl. While I’m not a fan of the station wagon silhouette, I appreciated its smooth, quiet ride and excellent fuel economy. The 11.6-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Harman Kardon sound system elevate the driving experience.
Under the hood, the Touring XT packs a turbocharged 2.4-liter Subaru Boxer engine paired with a High Torque Lineartronic CVT and eight-speed manual shift mode. Safety features come standard with Subaru’s EyeSight Driver Assist, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and blind spot monitoring.
My biggest complaint? The lack of storage up front. Aside from two cup holders and a center console, there’s not much space for essentials like a phone or keys.
Still, the 2025 Outback Touring XT blends capability and comfort with a hint of quirky charm.
