Turkey Day Runs and Walks

Area Turkey Trots raise funds for charities, non-profits and local teams

What better way to prepare for a filling meal than a nice run beforehand?

This ninth annual Give ‘Em the Bird 5K Run and 2K Walk takes place on Thanksgiving morning, starting at Millside Park in Easthampton. Proceeds will benefit the Easthampton Community Center. The 2022 race raised $30,000. The 5k course is a flat and, at times, rolling route past Easthampton’s mills and fields. The 2k walk course will head south on the bike path, turning around before Union Street. The event begins at 8:30 a.m. Millside Park is located at 2 Ferry St. in Easthampton. Registrations will be limited to 700 participants and are $30 per person. Registration is on www.RunSignup.com.


The 11th Annual Stuffing the Pantry 5k Run/Walk also takes place Thanksgiving morning at 8 a.m., starting at American Saw, located at 80 Chestnut St. in East Longmeadow. Proceeds will benefit Open Pantry’s Emergency Food Pantry. Last year’s race raised $52,000. Registration is $30 per adult and $25 per child under 18 years old. Both also require a food donation. Since 1980, the Wilbraham Turkey Trot has brought its runners over the hilly terrain of Wilbraham. The $20 per runner charge will benefit the cross-country and track teams at Minnechaug Regional High School.
