Un-wine At Reunion Wine Bar

Spring Hill's Destination For Community

In a world defined by media and technology, sometimes you need a place to gather among friends or simply just be (and bonus points if that place has wine). Dan Shawgo and Trey Gunner seized an opportunity to create just that in Spring Hill—a destination for the community to come together and connect over good conversation and good vino.

Reunion Wine Bar is tucked in a nearly century-old home in the heart of town, and Melinda Gunter joined the team to help transform the space into the ultimate hip-yet-historic hangout. When you step inside the charming white facade, you’ll find a warm, cozy den that delightfully merges historic elements with modern decor.

We caught up with Melinda to uncork everything you need to know about the space.

Tell us about Reunion Wine Bar.

Dan and Trey really wanted to cultivate a place where people could come, gather together, have a reunion, and celebrate the highs and the lows. Our name encompasses a lot of that. The bar has over 50 wines from all over the world covering most bases, such as California, France, Spain, New Zealand, Australia, Argentina, etc., plus a full bar and small bites.

What can folks expect when they visit?

We are a wine bar, but with a full cocktail program. People are often pretty surprised when they come in because we aren’t just a wine bar. We have a cocktail of the month, and many other standard bar offerings like whiskey and bourbon, beers on tap, and more. We’ve always loved charcuterie because of the flavor profiles and the beauty of the boards. We offer a larger board with three meats, some unique cheeses, fruits, and nuts; a hummus board; and a dessert board.

Our goal is to expand our menu, but we still want to stay on brand with the small plate/tapas vibe you can expect to find at a wine bar, things like flatbreads and heartier dips. We also offer a Wine Down Wednesday promotion that includes half-priced bottles.

Can you share the history of the Reunion Wine Bar home?

The home was built in 1930, so it’s 94 years old. Before us, it had been a florist business. We completely built out the inside, and we really tried to keep a lot of the integrity of the home by keeping wood floors and trim intact, and keeping that piece of history while modernizing it and giving it that “Nashville” vibe people love. It has an ambiance you can’t find anywhere in Spring Hill or Thompson’s Station.  We believe the original owner of the home had a leadership ranking in the military and he also owned a drug store on Main Street.
