UnCork and UnWine: A Virtual Experience

Presented by The Twenty Pearls Foundation

On November 14, 2020 at 7:08pm, the Twenty Pearls Foundation, Inc. hosted their 2nd annual wine tasting event, UnCork and UnWine: A Virtual Experience. The foundation members have been busy this year raising funds necessary through innovative means to support their many community programs. This event was no exception to their creative pioneering to virtually engage with the broader community and offer an entertaining yet philanthropic experience. The foundation held their first unCork and unWine event in 2019. It was very successful in raising money for scholarships and the numerous local community programs they facilitate. This year alone, the foundation awarded over $27,000 in scholarships to high school seniors within East Point, College Park, and South Fulton, GA. With the challenges of the global pandemic and social distancing, the foundation members faced the extraordinary challenge of meeting their fundraising goals in a virtual environment. Fortunately, the foundation was able to pivot the wine tasting experience into an online event, significantly broadening their potential audience. The evening was filled with fun, laughter and a great time for all.

The program was held virtually via Zoom allowing participants to enjoy a curated, live experience from the comfort of their homes. The festivities featured an outstanding performance on the violin by Ken Ford, King of the Strings. Additionally, wine expert, Diana Notizik, walked participants through a guided tasting of wines from boutique California wineries. Those local to the greater Atlanta area also had the option of purchasing a bountiful charcuterie board from Boards and Platters that was customized especially for this tasting.

The Twenty Pearls Foundation, Inc. was established in 2003 as a 501(c)(3) organization by the members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Tau Epsilon Omega Chapter, for fundraising, community involvement and scholastic achievement.
