The Good Life Investment: Friends, Community & Joy of Living

MICL editor Sharon Perez sat down with MIHS alumnus, BMW executive, and Robby Harrington Foundation co-founder Mark Harrington at Barrel’s Wine Bar to discuss wine as both an investment and a passion.

Mark: Some invest purely for financial returns, but for me, it’s about aging potential and the experience. Wine has this amazing ability to bring people together, which adds to its value beyond just numbers.

Sharon: Your Instagram feed showcases stunning wine photos.

Mark: I love sharing and educating—posting “wine of the day,” food pairings, and travel. Wine clubs are also great for exploring, especially Washington wines.

Sharon: Any favorites?

Mark: Definitely—Cayuse, Mark Ryan, DeLille, Doubleback, and Leonetti. I also love Montepulciano and Amarone and am exploring French wines.

Sharon: What’s your wine philosophy?

Mark: Keep an open mind. My first great wine had a cartoon label—totally unexpected. Never judge a wine by its label or price; just enjoy the journey.
