Jim Brown’s love for cars runs deep.
At 17, he started learning the auto repair business, mentored by the owner, inspired by the generations before him who worked in the business. “I was honored when John (mentor/former owner) made me a partner at 24 and began to groom me to turn the business over to me completely at age 28,” says Jim, owner of Speed Auto Repair, who lives in Alpharetta with his childhood sweetheart and wife Karen. "I lived the American dream. I knew from that moment that I wanted to honor John and his family by continuing to deliver the same compassion and level of service to our great community.” This month, as we all think about health and wellness, we asked Jim what TLC we should be giving our cars at 2, 5 and 10-years old.
2-year check-up
A premier 27 point inspection, drain and replace oil and filter, check brakes, top off all fluids, lubricate doors and suspension, rotate and balance the tires, transmission flush, battery service, check/replace air filter, check/replace cabin air filter.
5-year check-up
Major tuneup, replace tires, check/replace brakes, timing belt service.
10-year check-up
Check/replace suspension components (i.e. shocks, struts), check/replace brakes, check/replace belts, fluid exchange, oil service, timing belts.
