Given the right tools, support and a safe space, it’s amazing what people can create. Art from the Streets is an Austin-based non-profit doing just that for individuals at risk of or experiencing homelessness. The year-round program culminates with an annual show (this year was the 32nd!) but people can visit the studio space on the first Saturday of each month to see and have the option to buy work by some of the artists.
This year’s show had an amazing display of talent that left a lasting impression on this writer, from Hugh Miles magnificent elephants (and passion), Jameson Behrens ability to capture beautiful mountainscapes to Cathy Haynes prolific portfolio of cats, dogs and mixed media flowers to the Austin cityscapes and more by David Dominguez.
