Updated Colorado Rustic

It’s no secret that Denver’s population is growing — and that means our real estate market is evolving. With more people, there’s more pressure to try to get your hands on a house as soon as it comes on the market - whether or not it’s perfect. Megan Quinn-Mayfield’s approach to house-hunting and selling is different, “Real estate can take a toll on you psychologically — it’s your home, it means a lot to you. So I really try to let my clients know that I am going to make sure that everything is going to be okay, through every step of the process.”

That was the case for the owners of this five-bedroom, four bath house in Platte Park. The detached, single-family boasts outdoor space, a finished basement with 10-foot ceilings, and a massive master bedroom with a luxurious bathroom.

Quinn-Mayfield sold the house to its current owners in 2011 after it was freshly remodeled, and is now helping them sell the house as they look forward to their move to the suburbs (Quinn-Mayfield is also taking the lead on finding them their perfect home in suburbia).

Platte Park isn’t known for its huge lots, so this 3,900-square-foot home had to make use of its space. The three car garage ate into a part of the backyard, but the covered patio makes the outdoor space useful for all 300 days of Colorado sunshine.

The Perfect Family Home

This house boasts enough bedrooms for a large family and has enough living space to keep the home from ever feeling crowded. Whether the kids are downstairs in the basement or playing under the watchful eyes of their parents in the main floor great room, there’s space in spades.

Built for the Home Chef

The open concept living space means that the chef will never be left out of the good times of a dinner party. With plenty of countertop surface area, a gas range, stainless steel appliances, and a double oven (perfect for Thanksgiving!), cooking in this kitchen is a treat, not a chore.

Updated Colorado Modern

Throughout the houses, there are touches of Colorado inspiration. Dark wood is reminiscent of homes in the mountains, and the stonework on the base of the kitchen island and up the mantle brings the outdoors in. Paired with the bright countertops and modern appliances, the house balances a rustic, cozy vibe with sleek finishes.
