The reverent spirit of UT football season carries on with a new tradition named after the mascot. Bevo Boulevard brings together thousands of UT football fans coming together to celebrate a brand-new tailgating pre-game tradition, which includes a parade, popular food trucks, introduction of the football players, the Longhorn Band, Texas Cheer and Pom and Hook 'Em for the pageantry of Texas-sized events celebrating game day on the Forty Acres.
The pre-game event is located on the west exterior of Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium and expands from San Jacinto Boulevard from 20th Street to the Etter-Harbin Alumni Center and begins five hours before the game starts. Entry is free, and the fun and camaraderie are endless as fans gather to support UT football.
"The fan experience is critical to the success of our mission to fill every seat every game at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium and create an atmosphere that helps our coaches and student-athletes win games," Drew Martin, executive senior associate athletics director for external affairs, told TexasSports.com. "I am excited that we are able to bring a central, public tailgate for all Longhorns fans directly adjacent to the stadium, and I am confident fans will be excited to return week after week to put their full energy behind the burnt orange and white."
The undeniable, tried-and-true support of the UT football community in Austin is what makes the UT football program one of the greatest legacies in the country and will continue to create and celebrate memorable traditions for years to come.
Proud to be a Longhorn! Proud to be a resident of this amazing city we call home!
