Valentine Family Dinner + A Movie

Save the Fancy Night Out For Another Time and Opt For Family Night With A Dinner To Match

Romance is in the air and stores are filled with roses and chocolates.

While date night is always appreciated, you can trade prix fixe menus and babysitters for family movie night this Valentine’s Day. With a few simple touches, a night at home together can become quite a celebration.

Set the scene with an elegant, festive table. This is a great excuse to pull out that wedding china you never use. All those things you’ve been saving for a special occasion? This is it!

Alternatively, pick up some Valentine’s themed paper plates and napkins for easy cleanup.

Whether you bring out the good stuff or opt for heart-shaped plates from a party store, your tablescape will let the family know this is no ordinary dinner.

Choose a movie and a menu to compliment the story. Here are some ideas for February movie nights that offer a little family-friendly romance:

A classic romance:

Movie:  Lady and the Tramp

Menu:  Spaghetti and meatballs

A nostalgic tear-jerker:

Movie:  The Lost Valentine

Menu:  Steak and potatoes

A timeless favorite:

Movie:  A Charlie Brown Valentine

Menu:  Homemade pizza with heart-shaped pepperonis (Create using a small cookie cutter.)

Here’s to a sweet season of celebrating all the ones we love!

End On A Sweet Note:

Family movie night isn’t complete without a sweet treat or two. Create a dessert board of tempting cookies, candies and chocolates so that everyone can nibble while you enjoy the feature. Chocolate-dipped strawberries are an elegant addition alongside heart-shaped chocolates. This is a beautiful way to include everyone’s favorites, and your children are sure to be delighted by all the options.
