La Strega: Farm-to-table has a special place in my heart, so when you combine it with Italian cuisine, you have the perfect combination. The restaurant is intimate and charming, and Chef/Partner Gina Marinelli has created a wonderful menu perfect for any occasion, but a great choice for Valentine’s day with dishes that everyone will love. I personally love any of her fresh made pastas. My husband, Chef Kim Canteenwalla loves everything from the Butcher section of the menu, and, of course, our son Cole adores the pizza. And aside from the amazing food, the ambiance is one of my favorites! General Manager Stephanie Torres oversees a stellar cocktail and wine program.

Rooster Boy: Rooster Boy just feels like home. And chef, owner, and my dear friend Sonia El-Nawal makes the most creative and delicious menus in this Desert Shores neighborhood hot-spot.

Her passion is evident in every dish and she is committed to using the best quality organic product she can find.

Sonia has relationships with all the best farmers and producers in town. Rooster Boy is my go-to stop for brunch, lunch, and holidays and my favorite spot for to-go food. I have a sweet tooth so for me the best part is her amazing granola, pastry, and dessert selections. Other favorites are chilaquiles, bagels, Matzah ball soup, salmon, pies and just about anything Sonia dreams up. Everything is made fresh daily from Sonia herself and would be the perfect addition to a take-home Valentines meal.
