Local Developer and Historical Car Collector Shares History of Jaguar

Vintage car collector Joel Laub boasts a long resume as a Las Vegas native, UNLV Rebel, business entrepreneur, land developer, home builder, owner of Joel Laub and Associates, and his current project, developer of The Reserve at Red Rock Canyon, an exclusive community of only 16 luxurious homes within the Red Rock Canyon Conservation Area.

His latest venture illustrates how Joel recognizes and values quality, refinement, elegance, and sophistication. Beyond his projects, these virtues are also reflected in his lifestyle and interests, as displayed by his magnificent car collection.

Laub started collecting Jaguars in the mid-90s and views the brand as iconic. He credits the British automaker with developing cutting-edge, high-performance vehicles capable of earning seven Le Mans

— the 24-Hour endurance-focused sports car race held annually near the town of Le Mans, France, and the world's oldest active endurance racing event.

Laub is extremely proud of his collection, especially his two 1965 E Type XKE’s, the coupe which Laub says “Enzo Ferrari found to be the most beautiful car ever designed,” and the XKE roadster with its identical match of exterior and interior color.

Other prized and rare Jaguars in his collection include the 1949 XK120 alloy roadster, 1953 XK 120 open rally car, 1953 C Type (the C stands for Competition), and 1955 D Type Le Mans race cars. Laub confirms that “both the C and D Types won Le Mans, beating Ferrari, and are both considered extremely rare since only a few were produced specifically to race at Le Mans.” It is reported that only 53 C Types and 71 D Types were ever produced. The 1949 XK 120 alloy is also a rare and valuable antique; only 200 were built in aluminum, and Laub’s model is one of the few to survive. In contrast, there were 12,045 XK 120’s produced between 1949 and 1954, so they are more commonly found in collections and on the roads.

Laub has shared his extensive and impressive vintage Jaguar automobile collection with his friends at Jaguar Land Rover Las Vegas. In fact, he has shared his vehicles at many customer appreciation events.

“Joel has been a Jaguar Land Rover Las Vegas customer for years, he has provided properties for many of our events, and he brings his classic cars to our showroom floor for events as well,” said Rick Nelson, who manages the events for Jaguar Land Rover Las Vegas. “We appreciate and like to commemorate the history of Jaguar, and Joel helps us bridge the gap.”

To that end, Joel will be bringing one of his classic Jaguars to an upcoming event hosted by Jaguar Land Rover Las Vegas “Jags & Jets: Come Experience the Lifestyle” presented by Red Rock City Lifestyle Magazine and benefitting Miracle Flights. Come meet car enthusiasts, like Joel, and enjoy an evening out while raising critical funds to provide free flights for children in need of life-changing medical care. You can experience a night of luxury with signature cocktails, small bites, live entertainment, silent auction, and luxury automobiles on display on Thursday, June 9, 2022, 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 and available on Eventbrite or by clicking on the QR code in the ad in this month’s magazine.
