After hosting its inaugural Red & Black Gala last year, the Foundation for Eden Prairie Schools (FEPS) is doing what every organization has had to do – shift gears and adapt. On Saturday, March 13th, FEPS will move its premier fundraiser online and host a virtual game night as it honors the winners of its Legacy Awards.
Despite the digital divide, community connection is at a premium and this event will create an opportunity to see familiar faces from across the community. And even bring out some of that competitive spark as participants test their knowledge of Eden Prairie trivia – can you recall the name of the famous movie filmed at Eden Prairie Center?
“The Red & Black Gala is an opportunity for our community to come together in support of our Eden Prairie students,” said Lisa Sisinni, FEPS executive director. “Dollars raised reach Eden Prairie students of all ages and allow us to support our earliest learners as they prepare for kindergarten, provide STEM tools to enhance 21st century learning, and ensure we meet the social and emotional needs of our students. We invite the community to join us and be reminded of what makes our community and school district great.”
If there is one thing this year has taught us, it’s that we are surrounded by amazing school and community leaders. The FEPS Legacy Awards were created in 2008 to honor teachers and school staff who have dedicated their careers to the success of their students, and recognize volunteers, alumni and community leaders who tirelessly work to support their neighbors. During the event, five winners will be announced and all nominees will be recognized.
In addition to the gala, you can also support Eden Prairie students by bidding in the online silent auction. With items ranging from tickets and family passes to golf outings and gift cards, you are bound to find something that fits your interests and budget. The silent auction is open for bidding March 6th through 14th. New items are added daily and can be viewed anytime, so check back often.
When we look back on where we’ve been since last March, what has not changed is our commitment to our community and neighbors, as well as the resiliency of our students, teachers and school staff. Let’s make a commitment to get a social event on our calendars for the month of March.
