One of the best restaurants in north Alabama began as an idea in a local fitness club almost 10 years ago. 412 Public House is one of those unique places that’s perfect for a special occasion or a weekly date.
“It started as an idea in late 2016,” explained Owner Stephen Gannon. “I met our chef/partner, Rico (Ricardo Nishimura), along with our other partner (who is no longer with us) at my gym, Anytime Fitness, in 2015. That partner did first suggest this idea among the three of us, and then we ‘ran with it’ starting in 2017, breaking ground in August 2017, opening April 12 (4-12), 2018.”
If you’ve been to 412, you no doubt have your favorite dish, and even favorite side (Brussels sprouts!). Gannon shared his personal picks.
“My favorite item from our dinner menu is our Pork Chop Ribeye,” he said. “From our lunch menu it’s the Beef Medallion Sliders. And my favorite cocktail is Bar Manager Jeremy White’s traditional Old Fashioned.”
For the holiday season, 412 will have an array of seasonal selections.
“We’ll have a several holiday specials, both food and drink, throughout the season,” Gannon smiled. “We’ll be serving a couple of traditional, cold-weather drinks off of our patio during the Cullman Christkindlmarkt Parade. We’ll also have a special New Year’s Eve menu.”
This is the season of thanks, and along with that comes giving back, which 412 does all year round.
Said Gannon, “We strive to be supportive in a variety of ways, most especially through sponsorships of local educational and philanthropic groups and donations to a variety of fundraising efforts and charitable causes.”

Thanksgiving is the time of year when we all reflect and give thanks. What is 412 Public House Owner Stephen Gannon thankful for this Thanksgiving holiday season?
“Having now lost my mom early this year and my dad 10 years ago, I am most thankful for my incredible parents, whose examples of faith, work ethic and integrity made it possible for me to pursue the things we’re doing now,” Gannon said, adding, “People have asked me what I enjoy most about starting and operating businesses. In all sincerity, my greatest satisfaction has been my chance to provide an opportunity to my now partners and all our team members — to truly showcase their skills and talent in such great environments.”
