Many families are familiar with the juggling act required when two parents are full-time, busy professionals and the kids have their own demanding schedules. For Mason and Anna Stevens, owners of Glass Well Service & Softeners, balancing the demands of business and family is possible with a focus on faith and a little help from their friends.
After 18 years working in the corporate world as an environmental consultant, in 2021 Mason purchased Glass Well, a family company that has drilled and serviced water wells in Central Texas for five generations. With offices in Dripping Springs and now in Wimberley, Glass Well assists with the installation of new wells, inspects and repairs wells and pumps, installs constant pressure systems, offers water treatment and filtration, and more.
Now running his own business, Mason’s responsibilities are countless and constant, and Anna manages her own career as a corporate professional and a realtor. Meanwhile, their two athletic and social sons, 11-year-old Cooper and eight-year-old Kipp, keep the family calendar full with baseball, flag football, and basketball practices and games. The family’s beloved Boston terrier, Ruth, also adds energy to the lively family. “Every day is different!” Anna remarks.
To keep up with their kids, Mason and Anna have learned to communicate well and prioritize to avoid overload. Although he’s always on call and available to respond to urgent customer needs, Mason strives to “leave work at work.” He says, “When it’s time to shut it down, I do.”
The Stevens family also leans on their community to keep all the balls in the air. Before moving to Dripping Springs eight years ago, Mason and Anna prayed for good friends and neighbors. They have found that and more. Surrounded by people who share their family goals and values, Mason shares, “We’re pretty blessed to be here. Dripping Springs is booming, but it’s booming with good people.”
Such good people can help keep the chaos in check; for example, carpooling is key with busy sports schedules. “We are fortunate to have trusted friends and teammates to help out,” Anna says. “That’s one thing I love about our community.”
Despite their busy lives, the Stevens family also knows how to slow down. Self-defined “homebodies,” they enjoy keeping family time simple with activities like swimming, fishing, or playing games. “Home is our happy place,” says Anna.
In balancing business and family life, ultimately the Stevenses lean on their faith to keep things manageable, aiming to “treat situations through a Godly lens.” Such perspective is evident in Mason’s passionate commitment to honesty and communication with his customers. “Mason was made to be a business owner,” says Anna. “His character and values—he really brings that into the business.”
