Western MA Charity DanceAthon

Western Mass Dances from Dawn 'Till Dusk for Community Causes

The Western MA Charity DanceAthon is an annual community-rich event that combines the universal appeal of music and dance to create a lively, fun-filled 25-hour dance event. The goal is to raise funds that support the efforts of local causes who in turn help those in need within our community.

Festivities include dancing, food, a photo-booth, games, and more! High school and middle school students are welcome to dance the night away with DJ’s spinning fan-fave tunes from dusk to dawn and night again. There will be themed dances such as line dancing and the 2-hour dance-till-you-drop youth session. To fuel the fire under their dancing shoes, volunteers will be on-site cooking up and serving fresh food and snacks. Participants will be fed for free and spectators can patron local food trucks scheduled to be on-site. Spend time in the game room playing ping-pong after the lively opening ceremony or get ready for special guest appearances and fun activities throughout the event. Also, don’t forget to snap a photo and make new memories in the new photo-booth!

This entertaining event is run and led by students who share the vision to provide help and hope to those in need here in Western MA. By involving youth to engage in the planning, marketing, and decision making of the annual event, Western MA Charity DanceAthon aids in developing future community leaders.

At last year’s inaugural event, dancers raised a show-stopping sum of $16,500 awarded to two charities - KEVS Foundation and Rick's Place.

Kev’s Foundation, founded in memory of Kevin J. Major, has a goal to educate and help prevent Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) in children and young adults. KEVS Foundation facilitates free youth heart screenings, helps to provide program resources for public access defibrillator programs and teaches the importance of early bystander CPR/AED education and awareness in our communities.

Rick’s Place was opened as a not-for-profit to provide grief support to healing children and their families in memory of Rick Thorpe — a loved husband, father, brother and son who died in Tower Two of the World Trade Center on 9/11. Rick’s Place offers free support to children and teens (5-18 years) plus their families after a loved one has passed.

This year Rachel's Table is added to the list! Rachel’s Table is the premier food rescue and distribution program in Western MA created by the members of the Women’s Philanthropy Division of The Jewish Federation of Western MA in order to address food insecurity within the region.

The Western MA Charity DanceAthon 25-hour event will take stage in Westfield at 127 Holyoke Road on February 03 at 7PM and last through February 04 at 8PM. Organizers expect 75-100+ dazzling dancers discoing for an even larger contribution to the charities this year.
