From Hawaii, The Big Island

This summer, my family visited The Big Island of Hawaii. I was especially excited because I got to go with my grandparents, uncles and aunt. We spent the first half of our trip on the Kona side of the island. We had a busy three days exploring the different beaches searching for sea turtles, going to a luau and heading out on our first snorkeling trip to Kealakekua Bay.

On our way over to Hilo, we stopped for malasadas at Tex Drive-In and stopped at the Waipio Valley Lookout. In Hilo, we explored waterfalls, went on a hike down to the ocean and found sea turtles at the Punalu’u Black Sands Beach. We also went to Volcano National Park. Our last stops before we got on the airplane to come home were the Panaewa Rainforest Zoo where we saw tigers and Richardson Ocean Park. I love playing at the beach.

5 Things I Loved

1. I loved our snorkeling trip. I used a snorkel board so I could see all the fish and coral under water. The yellow fish were my favorite.

2. Every day I kept my eyes open for rainbows and usually found them. I don’t get to see them very often at home.

3. Hawaii had a lot of fun beaches for us to play on. I broke my papa’s sandcastles and ran away from the ocean waves.

4. I loved exploring all the black volcanic rock on the island. It was easy to find on the beaches and in Volcano National Park.

5. I ate delicious seafood including sushi, one of my favorite things to eat. I always like to order the pink sushi.
