Lion pride is roaring from Northwest Catholic High School lately, from academics to athletics, service and experiences. One of the biggest misconceptions is that the school isn’t for FV families, but actually more than 40% of the students come from the valley.
Academically, NWC was recently distinguished with AP School Honor Roll’s Platinum designation by the College Board. With an average SAT score of 1096, the Lions exceeded state and national averages by over 100 points.
Service-driven initiatives are crucial to the NWC experience, and students have many opportunities to help their communities. This includes providing food-based outreach at St. Augustine Church (Hartford) and serving Manna Meals monthly through Hands on Hartford. Other service initiatives include work with St. Ann's Parish in Avon, St. Patrick's in Farmington, the Cathedral of St. Joseph’s food pantry, and more.
“We really made a concerted effort last year to connect ourselves with intentionality with faith-based organizations within the Greater Hartford area… it’s allowing opportunities for our students to see mission in action, the social gospel in action, and it’s something accessible and meaningful,” explained NWC President Michael Clark. “It’s helping to develop the moral identity of our young people as compassionate, concerned citizens.”
In 2025-26, three NWC teams went to state championships, including girls’ soccer, girls’ basketball and football teams.
On November 6, NWC is eager to bring back its Athletic Hall of Fame for the first time in seven years. The event will be held at nearby Wampanoag Country Club and will honor contributors to athletics at NWC. Nominations will come from students, staff, school families and alumni.
“I’m looking forward to lifting them up and I know there is an eagerness in our school community to be able to celebrate them in fine style this fall,” Clark said.
