What’s New at MidPointe Library?

Our Local Library is Evolving to Serve the Community's Changing Needs

The library is a natural birthplace for innovation. How can you not be inspired when surrounded by page after page of wisdom, success stories and happy endings? MidPointe Library is not where you’ll be shushed, but from where you’ll launch—discovering fresh ideas, new hobbies and a world of learning opportunities.

Community Engagement Director Cari Hillman says that MidPointe is responding to the challenges of the last year with new and enhanced services to benefit the community.

“We’ve added tons of new materials on all of our digital platforms,” Cari explains. “Typical e-books, e-audio books, magazines, downloadable music, downloadable video—all for free with your library card.”

“We really threw ourselves into virtual programming. You can find it on MidPointe’s You Tube page,” she adds.

This is not your grandfather’s library—it offers so much more than books. Here’s what’s new at MidPointe Library. MidPointeLibrary.org

INNOVATION POINTE EXPRESS MidPointe’s makerspace is stocked with tools and technology for inventing. Its 3D and vinyl printers are available for staff production of patron projects. “It’s a small business incubator,” Cari explains. “We can generate posters and banners at cost.”

DIGITAL ARCHIVES The enhanced archives at MidPointe now include yearbooks from area high schools dating back to 1939. “We have new ways to embarrass you with years of yearbooks available for viewing,” Cari laughs.

SPECIAL COLLECTIONS From Mobile hotspots to board games, laptops to leisure kits, MidPointe encourages you to try something new. “We have musical instruments, giant Jenga, croquet,” Cari lists. “These are new hobbies you can try out and experience yourself at home.”

FINE FREE It’s true, MidPointe is no longer charging fines, although you are still responsible for what you check out. “We don’t want fines to be a barrier to access to the materials that are available for the community here at the library,” Cari explains.
