Summer is here! It's impossible not to get the vacation bug to seek out sunshine, adventure, and time together with those we love. We asked our local travel enthusiasts where their best vacation destinations are to get away. To the beaches, secret hideaways, or glamorous cities, there are so many choices whether you love traveling abroad, enjoying history, or finding there is no place like home, even when you need an escape.

“Without a doubt, my favorite getaway spot is South Lake Tahoe. Sure, it might not feel like a true destination since I live in Northern Nevada and it’s just a short drive away—but that doesn’t take anything away from it. Honestly, even if it were hours away, I’d still call this place the one. Those alpine lake-meets-mountain views are next level. It’s like a vacation for your eyes too.”

“We have two best places but it’s changing as we get older. It used to be Disneyland with the kids but as they get older Cabo is the vibe. We can get on a flight in Reno at 6 in the morning and be sipping our Diet Cokes at the resort by noon! Spending more time at the resort rather than traveling itself is the key. We get to eat all the foods without a care and come back sun burnt and full. We get the most out of our vacation time as a family and a couple.”

"San Francisco is my favorite place to vacation and even though it’s full of scenic views and iconic landmarks, I love adventuring into the less traveled seams of such a historic city. Every visit is always a new adventure and [we] always stop for libations at our favorite hidden spot, Sweeties Art Bar by Fisherman’s Wharf.”
