In a world where children are increasingly surrounded by screens, schedules and stressors, Bozza Yoga Studios in Allendale has become a sanctuary for slowing down and reconnecting. Founded by Denise Bozza, the studio was created with a clear mission: “Healthy body, healthy mind, healthy child.” What began as Bozza Yoga Littles has evolved into Bozza Yoga Studios—a full children’s yoga and mindfulness center designed to give kids lifelong tools for self-regulation, confidence and emotional intelligence.
A Studio Born From Modern Needs
Bozza Yoga emerged out of what Bozza saw as a growing urgency in children’s wellness. Many kids are struggling with stress, distraction and a lack of coping skills—and families are seeking support beyond traditional sports or academic programs. “The focus is to equip them with lifelong coping skills for self-regulation and emotional intelligence,” Bozza says. “Our mission is simply: healthy body, healthy mind, healthy child.”
“Where Littles Do Big Things”
The studio’s signature phrase reflects the heart of its philosophy. “It means that our Littles are achieving significant milestones and emotional growth through their mindfulness and yoga practice,” Bozza says. “I’m so proud of how brave and strong the kids are who walk through our yoga room door. They truly are doing big things.”
What Makes Bozza Yoga Different
While many children’s programs emphasize physical activity, Bozza Yoga takes a holistic, inclusive approach. The studio offers niche classes such as boys-only Bozza Bro’s, a neurodivergent-friendly All Abilities class, high school athlete yoga and family-unit sessions.
The studio also serves as an educational hub, offering an accredited 95-hour Children’s Yoga Teacher Training through Yoga Alliance. The program prepares educators, caregivers and aspiring instructors to teach yoga through a social-emotional learning lens. “They will have a solid understanding of how to teach yoga to all age groups, from toddler to teen,” Bozza says.
Impact Beyond the Mat
The benefits of yoga and mindfulness extend far beyond the studio walls. Kids learn self-regulation tools through movement, breathwork, meditation and sensory awareness—skills that support them in school, at home and in social settings. “These four modalities allow kids to feel it in their body, therefore making it a learned skill,” Bozza says. Students often experience increased focus, improved concentration and greater emotional awareness.
What Families Can Expect
First-time families typically receive a warm tour of the studio from Bozza herself before class begins. Children enter the yoga room with classmates and their teacher, with class length depending on age. “You can expect your child to have a fun experience,” Bozza says. “Most of our kids do.”
Teaching the Teachers
Bozza’s 95-hour training draws individuals who work with kids regularly or simply want to make a positive impact. The curriculum includes yoga philosophy, child development, social-emotional learning and sequencing for toddlers through teens. “If you are around children often, this course will be beneficial for you,” Bozza says.
A Community That Shows Up
The Allendale community has embraced the studio’s mission, showing strong engagement through classes, events and local partnerships. Families, educators and mental health professionals often connect through the shared goal of supporting children’s well-being.
Buzzy Bozza: Mindfulness Through Storytelling
Bozza also authored the “Buzzy Bozza” children’s book series, featuring breathing techniques designed to help kids self-regulate. “In Buzzy Bozza Finds Yoga, Buzzy learns a breathing technique he can use to calm down and find stillness,” she says. Her hope is that young readers discover “the power of stillness and deep breathing.”
A Simple At-Home Practice
Bozza recommends one quick mindfulness activity parents can try today:
“Play the quiet game for 30 seconds. Each participant must name three things they heard during their quiet time. Bonus points if they can stand in tree pose.”
What’s Next
The studio is gearing up for its winter yoga series, offering cozy, movement-filled classes along with winter camps, special events and the next round of teacher training beginning in January.
