Seasons of life bring change and transformation. So is the case for the Beavers-Damron family as they transition from their Evans home in Jones Creek Plantation on Emerald Crossing.

Stories of great times with family and friends flow from Sam Beavers and her daughter, Gelsey, as they share favorite features of their home. Amid the stories, Gelsey declares, “There’s just tons of space for fun!”

Seven of Our Favorite Features

  1. 5-bed, 5-bath, 4820-square-foot home on a large lot in a gated community
  2. Access to a pond, park, and nature trails
  3. The main level includes an owner’s suite plus a guest room with a full bath
  4. Open, versatile floor plan perfect for hosting gatherings of family and friends
  5. A welcoming porch and large backyard perfect for outdoor events and family playtime
  6. The main floor is a decorator’s dream with lots of natural light and outlets galore
  7. Three-car garage

Sam and her husband, George Damron, find the open floor plan to be extremely versatile. She says, “The layout has allowed us to grow and adapt the space to be functional for what we were doing at that point in our lives—lots of room for toys or craft projects and then later, space where our daughter could hang out with her friends.”

Each piece of furniture has a unique story.

“We like to incorporate things from family, and we try to buy things that are made from reclaimed or recycled materials," Sam says. "I like to leave things as they are because I find that dings and scratches on things tell a story."

"I work with the International Justice Mission, which is an anti-human trafficking organization, so fair labor practices are very important to us,” Gelsey adds. “We also try to use furniture that we will actually live in…that we can use, so that friends can come in and not feel weird about using it.”

“Holidays are our favorite!” Sam shares with a gleam in her eyes. “Every winter solstice, we line the entire driveway with luminaries all the way up to the stairs. That’s a family tradition the neighbors have always commented on. Inside, the high ceilings let you have a tall tree, the mantel is set up nicely for decorating and we have extra outlets everywhere for Christmas lights.”

“We have a big family, and there is plenty of room to host holidays like Thanksgiving,” Gelsey says.

“The kitchen is open," Sam adds. "It gives you a little privacy so that if you’re having a dinner party, people aren’t hanging right in the kitchen, but it still gives you the ability to see what’s going on in the other room.”

Opportunity for fun continues outdoors.

“The back yard is nice and level so we could put up volleyball nets and croquet courses…it’s a great space for lots of tables. We’ve had lots of outdoor parties,” Sam says. “There is not a ton of light pollution, so we love having a telescope to see all the stars. We have had several times when people would come over to see astronomical events with us.”

According to Susan Salisbury of Blanchard and Calhoun Real Estate, “The friendly gated community and easy access to downtown, to the medical campuses, to Fort Gordon and to Evans Towne Center places this home in a highly desirable location. It would also make a great Masters rental.”

Neighborhood location and amenities such as a community park, pond and walking trails round out the appeal of this Jones Creek Plantation home.

The Beavers-Damron family recently relocated to Arizona, where George was offered a new and exciting opportunity. When asked what she wished for the next family who calls the Emerald Crossing house their home, Sam said she hopes that they would "enjoy it and create as many wonderful memories as they have."
