The Essence of Merging Nature & Design

Sage + Grace Botanicals is Creating Living Spaces That Inspire

Our homes are our sanctuaries.

It's where we are able to escape, release, and center ourselves. Home is a haven in which we can retreat surrounded by the things and people that we love. Having a soothing and aesthetically pleasing living space can go a long way in making us feel more grounded and relaxed.

Adding greenery into our homes is one way to infuse natural beauty and life into our spaces. It’s also scientifically proven that having plants in our homes and offices is not only a source of pleasure and beauty, but also promotes health in a variety of ways. In fact, humans are intertwined at the most core level with plants and greenery to the point where a lush landscape is synonymous with flourishing and prospering. And nobody understands the role plants play in our daily lives and how to properly integrate them into our spaces better than Nicole Bookman, front-range plant stylist and owner of Sage + Grace Botanicals.

Inspired by the beauty of nature that is all around us, Sage + Grace Botanicals helps introduce natural, living elements into homes and offices to create beautiful, livable spaces where you will feel more alive and inspired.

Curated, comfortable, and organic-feeling, Nicole’s aesthetic weaves in natural and living elements like wood, leather, and botanicals to create a living pulse within the home. She works and lives by the belief that we are meant to live close to nature and that introducing plants into the home is one way for us to reconnect to our truest selves.

“I love creating spaces for people to hold space, to feel nourishment, and be inspired by and at home deep within their being,” says Nicole. “I want to create a space for my clients to pull back, tune in, relax and de-stress from the world.“

After being introduced to the Appalachian Mountains in Asheville, North Carolina over twenty years ago, Nicole admits that she was forever changed by the rich biosphere and the lush understory of the area. After her time in North Carolina, she moved to Colorado, which felt like a bit of a desert in comparison. Craving the lush feel of the Appalachians, she created an environment for herself that was an earthy grounded safe haven.

After that, friends and people in the community would ask her to come and look at their plants and ask for recommendations. It was then that she realized that she had a viable business and Sage + Grace Botanicals was born. Since then she has had the opportunity to work on a vast array of projects creating inspirational spaces in homes, offices, restaurants, retail spaces and more. Sage + Grace Botanicals even had the opportunity to design the stage for the band Elephant Revival at Planet Bluegrass.

“My clients trust and invite me into their homes. I snuggle in, get a feel for them and their space and I listen. I learn so much from each one. It’s such an honor,” she explains.

A design aesthetic that she identifies with and that often inspires her own work is a concept called Wabi Sabi. This is the Japanese notion of finding beauty within the imperfections of life and accepting the natural cycle of growth and decay, celebrating cracks, crevices, and all other marks that time, weather, and love leave behind.

She embraces the imperfection of nature and believes that your dwelling place should be 100% authentically you. It’s not about mimicking anybody else’s space. Nor does it have to make sense or be perfect, it just needs to feel like home.

At Sage + Grace Botanicals, it’s about creating a space that feels like home and introducing greenery, texture, life, and movement—the elements that we as humans were meant to live amongst.

“Curated, comfortable, and organic-feeling, Nicole’s aesthetic weaves in natural and living elements to create a living pulse.”
