Where did you grow up?

Tallahassee, FL. I moved to New York City after college and worked for Bear Stearns. I then moved to Vail 29 years ago.

What brings you the most joy in your line of work?

All the fascinating people and the great stories I learn from them. People are truly fascinating.

How would you define luxury real estate?

Luxury real estate is not just a price point; it is property that touches the soul both in design, finishes and setting. I’ve seen some very expensive homes that are not luxurious, and I have seen some modest homes executed very well and make you want to stay and take it in forever.

What do you do for fun with your family?

Ski and travel.

What’s your favorite quote?

“Winning is not a sometime thing; it’s an all-time thing. You don’t win once in a while, you don’t do things right once in a while, you do them right all the time. Winning is habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.” —Vince Lombardi Jr.

Most treasured item?

My memories. I honestly don’t care much for material things and I reflect on the people and places who have touched my life.

Artwork you love?

I love most images of nature — anything to do with mountains, oceans and wildlife.

What quality do you admire most in other people?

Humility is such a great quality, especially in successful people. If you can learn to be humble, you can conquer the world and people will still admire you.

Your favorite holiday destination?

Bahamas and anywhere a good beach can be found after a great winter in the mountains. Once I return, I love summer in the Vail Valley. Almost like a stay-cation for me.

The best thing to do in the summer is?

Fly fishing, hiking and driving around in my 1978 Toyota FJ40 Landcruiser.

Dream dinner guest?

I love baseball and would die to have dinner with Jackie Robinson. I think he paved the way for so many athletes in sports and I would love to pick his brain.

You geek out on …

I tend to geek out on cars, technology and pushing the boundaries of my business. My colleagues say I am always looking for what is next and love the journey more than the destination.
