Wholesome Living on the Ranch

Back to Basics

Clear Choice Acupuncture and Wellness is led by Alyson Bayer, an experienced and talented Acupuncturist, specializing in pain management and Chinese medicine. Alyson promotes a holistic approach to living at both work and home on her ranch in Montgomery, where she lives with her twin sons and mother.

Fresh and Local, That’s the Key

Alyson and her family have a container garden with fresh vegetables and herbs, including rosemary, spearmint, oregano, peppermint, and even catnip for their furry friend. However, if the gardening lifestyle isn’t calling you, consider partnering with a local organic farmer. Your fruits and vegetables will likely be in-season, rather than imported or harvested in the off-season. Alyson uses her herbs from the garden in cooking and grills out frequently.

Alyson is an advocate for eating fresh and local options that generally supply higher nutrient content. "But when her twin 13 year olds have a hankering to drive through for a chicken sandwich or hamburger, she does not make a big deal about it, but instead tries to bring awareness to her twins on why they may have a headache or feel bad after eating the processed food."

No matter your living arrangement, Alyson encourages everyone to spend time outdoors and promotes walking and playing together. Ground your bare feet in the soil and grasses. Feel purpose through your toils. Connect with nature and be out in the sunshine and sounds of nature.

Alyson’s home is on an acre of property and backs up to a serene lake setting, where she set hard boundaries in the beginning of her career to be there for her family and to be present when at home, not at her practice.

Best Practices

Clear Choice Acupuncture and Wellness began in 2012 in Conroe.   Alyson incorporates a lot of nutrition and supplement education into her acupuncture practice, helping to limit her patients intake of pharmaceuticals or elective surgeries."

“I am passionate about clean living and eating, and better nutrition. Sometimes people do not understand how bad our food system is and what is truly not good for the body,” shares Alyson. “I like to educate others; it is hard to truly eat healthy and clean unless you live on your own farm and source your food.”

Her grocery store recommendations are all whole foods - anything that can be taken home to make and cook rather than reheating meals. On the Clear Choice Acupuncture website are some links to nutritional food items, and also a survey to help shape a custom nutrition plan.

Alyson shared that a lot of chronic pain and issues inside the body are from poor nutrition habits.

One popular nasal therapy at Clear Choice Acupuncture and Wellness is the O3 Reboot Therapy, which incorporates ozone that aids for fogginess, allergies, and other side effects from infections.

Alyson works mainly with adults but she educates parents, especially in the realm of nutrition and holistic living. “If you are buying vitamins from a big box store, you are wasting your money and they can be more toxic than beneficial; "synthetic vitamins, which are the ones most commonly sold, are not as effective as one might think and are frequently made from petroleum products or things like corn and soy",  and are not as effective as one might think says Alyson. “Rethink taking whole food vitamins that come from large organic farms.”

Basics like cutting down on sugar and processed foods can be life-changing over time. It’s a habit that Alyson promotes and lives by, and she no longer has headaches when she’s living and eating more clean .
