There’s a movement within the medical community that’s revolutionizing health care. Davis Mellick and the staff at Evans Direct Primary Care are at the forefront of this movement.

How does this revolutionary system work? Patients pay a basic monthly fee to be members of the practice. The fee gives patients unlimited office visits and access to the staff through a secure app for questions and consultations – none of which is filed for payment through insurance companies.

Davis explains, “With direct primary care, it’s patient-centered. It’s a better focus on time so I can spend more time with the patient when they are in the office. Then, since I’m not having to chase down co-pays and bill insurance, there are a lot of things I can do by tele-medicine.”

He adds, “This model takes a step backwards to the old-school family practice where patients can communicate with us.”

Elizabeth has seen a difference in her care in just the first few months as a patient of Davis and Rachel Mellick.

“My first appointment with Davis blew me completely away,” Elizabeth says. “I didn’t feel rushed. I felt extremely listened to and heard. He gathered as much information as he could to create a long-term plan, but the application of that plan started right away.”

She continues, “I’ve seen another doctor almost every month to check in on my medications, but nothing really changed. Davis delved deeper to find the root of the problem and why symptoms are occurring. He detected something on the first day that decades of doctors have missed.”

“If you give the patient time, they’ll tell you what’s wrong,” says Davis. “You just have to be able to take the time to listen and put some pieces together. When you’re able to get a full, detailed history and ask more in-depth questions, you’re able to look into other environmental factors and figure out patterns.”

This care model also provides incentive to build a trusting patient/caregiver relationship that allows for consistency in communication and caregiving.

“When in a medical situation, it can be a vulnerable time because, as the patient, you need to be open and transparent, but the physician never has to be.” Elizabeth says, “For me, that has always felt uncomfortable. But Davis is clearly personable and caring, and in the most appropriate of ways, he connected with me there. I felt safe to be open about things that I needed help with.”

“He and Rachel have both informed me and empowered me to make decisions about my health and have given me natural solutions,” says Elizabeth. “I love having Davis as my primary care physician.”

Davis Mellick and his wife, Rachel, are Physician Assistants – Certified at Evans Direct Primary Care. For more information go to EvansDPC.com.
